L.A, BABY!

So, after spending five days in San Diego, we caught the train to Los Angeles. Here we stayed in Santa Monica at the HI Los Angeles hostel. The hostel was located one street off the beach and was a very short walk to the Santa Monica pier. Location wise it was perfect for us, as we didn’t want to stay in the centre of LA, in the likes of Hollywood, yet it was close to the metro station where we could catch the metro into Hollywood.

Day 1

For our first full day we decided to head into Hollywood. In Hollywood we of course walked part of the walk of fame, looking for stars of people we wanted to see. You get a leaflet that states where on the walk of fame specific stars are so you can head straight to them rather than wandering aimlessly all day!

While we were in Hollywood, it just so happened to be the world premier of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. They had set up the red carpet – or purple in this case – and they were even laying down Chris Pratt’s star on the walk of fame! It was so cool to see the set up of the premier, it was just a shame we couldn’t stay there all day to watch the actors walk down the carpet.

In Hollywood there is also the Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood sign, and tours of the stars homes that you can go on. We saw the Chinese theatre and the Hollywood sign from a distance, but we didn’t do the tour of the homes. I would love to do the hike up the Hollywood sign but we didn’t have the time or resources to do it this time.

Days 2&3

Beaches, beaches, beaches…

Our last two full days in L.A were basically spent on the beach. On the second day we just went to Santa Monica beach and pier, and had a relaxing day sitting on the beach. On our last day we walked down the beach to Venice Beach. It is between 30 and 45 minute walk from Santa Monica pier until you get to Venice beach and there are a lot of restaurants and bars on the beach front that you can go to for a drink or bite to eat.
