So, we made it to the last stop on our interrailing journey. It was an impromptu one as it wasn’t on our original schedule, but as I mentioned in my Prague post, a change of circumstance meant that we had to change our itinerary slightly.
In Bratislava we stayed at the Blues Hostel. I’ve said it about basically every hostel we stayed at, but I would recommend this hostel to budget travellers; it is centrally located, in walking distance to the main attractions in the city.
We were only in the city for one full day. A few things you can do in Bratislava are:
- Visit the castle. Of course we did this, we can’t go to a city and not visit the castle now can we?!
- Explore the city. The city centre itself is relatively small, and I would say you could probably explore it in a day. There are bus tours that you can take that either go just around the city or also include the castle grounds, so you get both done in one tour. We never chose this option, we did both on foot, and still felt like we saw everything we wanted to in one day.
That was pretty much our short and sweet trip to Bratislava! Other things that you could do with a bit more time are:
- Devin Castle
- Michael’s Gate
- Church of St Elizabeth
- Slavin
- Slovak national museum/Slovak national gallery
- And many more churches!
Interrailing was one of the best experiences of my life, and I would 100% do it again in a heartbeat. In my opinion, if you do it, get the month long pass because you can fit so much into a month with a bit of planning. I will do an advice post about interrailing in the future, so keep your eyes peeled for that. In the meantime, watch out for more travel posts, as although I’m no longer in Europe, I’m definitely not done with travelling just yet!
